Why field screening matters for code officers.
A complaint comes in about suspected lead paint at a rental, a daycare, or a public-facility playground, and the officer drives out. If there is nothing in the truck, the visit ends with "I will send a sample to the lab" and the complaint sits for two weeks. With the kit in the truck, the officer has a defensible field read in 30 seconds and the homeowner has a path the same hour.
