Control residue before you bring it home

After the kit finds it

You found lead. Now you clean.

If you ran the Fluoro-Spec kit and something glowed green, the next step is removal. These TSP-impregnated wipes are formulated to lift lead residue off hard, non-porous surfaces: window troughs, baseboards, painted trim, range bags, firearm cleaning stations, work surfaces.

Daniella’s story. Her son’s blood-lead level was 3.4 µg/dL. She ran the Fluoro-Spec kit and found the source on three of his favorite painted plates and a dusty windowsill in his bedroom. She pulled the plates. She wiped the windowsill with TSP wipes. She retested four months later. Her son’s level was undetectable. The kit told her where. The wipes were the “now what.”

What these wipes do

  • TSP (trisodium phosphate) lifts lead dust off hard surfaces that water alone can’t handle
  • Pre-moistened, individually wrapped, ready for field use (range bag, work site, kitchen counter)
  • For hard, non-porous surfaces: windowsills, baseboards, painted trim, range tables, firearm cleaning
  • Not for skin and not for ingestion — this is a remediation tool, not a hand cleaner

How to actually remediate after a positive

  • Found it on a dish? Don’t clean. Pull the dish. Lead leaches from glaze, not from surface dust. Cleaning won’t fix it. Replace.
  • Found it on a windowsill or trim? Wipe with a TSP wipe, then rinse with water, then dry. Repeat after 30 days. Retest with the Fluoro-Spec kit at 90 days.
  • Found it on a toy? Pull the toy. Surface paint chips. Wiping is not sufficient on porous painted surfaces.
  • Found it on plumbing solder? Replace the joint or install a certified water filter (NSF 53 lead). Wiping doesn’t fix leaching.
  • Found it on a range surface or firearm? Wipe with TSP, then rinse. Use the wipes on your hands and tools too — lead transfers from range bag to car to home.

The retest is the part that matters

Cleaning lead dust without a retest is guessing. The point is: did your fix work? The only way to know is to spray or drip the same spot 30-90 days after you cleaned it. If it doesn’t glow, you’re done. If it does, the source is still there.

Add wipes + a refill to your retest plan.

The wipes clean. The refill ($33.34) covers the 90-day retest. Together they close the loop on a positive finding.

Why this exists

Most parents who buy a Fluoro-Spec kit and find something want to know two things: how do I actually clean this, and how do I know I did it right. The wipes are the first half. The refill is the second.

How it works

TSP (trisodium phosphate) helps break down and neutralize lead residue, so it can be lifted from the surface rather than just smeared around.

How to use
  1. Open the individually wrapped wipes.
  2. Wipe down the surface/firearm thoroughly.
  3. Dispose of the wipe after use.
Where to use
  • Firearms - slides, grips, magazines
  • Benches and work surfaces
  • Tools and range gear
  • Hard, non-porous surfaces

It can also be used on your hands when needed.

Verify your clean-up

Bringing lead home isn’t an option.

If you shoot or work around lead, cleanup matters. Lead dust is one of the most overlooked exposure pathways — and one of the most preventable environmental health risks. Children are especially vulnerable, but adults are affected too.

Be aware. Be intentional.

Use Tactical Lead Cleaning Wipes to remove and neutralize residue from your gear and hard surfaces. Then verify your cleanup with FluoroSpec.

Test. Clean. Confirm.

That’s the full system — and a smarter way to reduce risk for you and your family.

Once you’re aware of lead, you’re already decreasing exposure.

Taking the extra step makes the difference.

FAQS

What are the signs of lead poisoning?

Typically none, if you are exposed to lead you may get higher blood pressure, more plaque deposits in your arteries, children may loose IQ points, have more ADHD symptoms and behavioral problems later in life.

Can the test be cleaned off easily? is it safe?

Everything in the test kit is water soluble, it will wash right off, or be easily cleaned off with a damp napkin. The active ingredient, Methylammonium Bromide is 6 times more toxic than table salt. There is only about 500mg per bottle of Fluoro-Spec.

How did you create Fluoro-Spec?

I learned about this technology by reading about it online prior to meeting with the scientests who created it. Turns out they reused a mixture they created years before to convert lead on the surfaces of everyday items to reveal lead on the surface.

Where can it detect lead?

Fluoro-Spec can detect lead on surfaces that have exposed lead, metal, glass, paint, lead paint dust particles, rubber, vinyl can all be tested easily with Fluoro-Spec.

What can't I test?

Certain forms of lead that do not dissolve cannot be tested. But these forms of lead are not very dangerous for that same reason and are rare. If lead is overpainted or covered by a surface it cannot be tested unless exposed.

How can I help end lead poisoning?

It may sound crazy but just by finding lead and disposing of it you prevent future people from being exposed. If you sell your home and it has been made safe, or you destroy dishes or plates that have lead instead of donating them to a thrift store you break the cycle of lead exposure.
