Why field screening matters for code officers.
A complaint comes in. Suspected lead paint at a rental, a daycare, or a public-facility playground. The officer drives out. If they have nothing in the truck, the visit ends with "I will send a sample to the lab." The complaint lives in limbo for two weeks. With the kit in the truck, the officer has a defensible field read in 30 seconds and the homeowner has a path the same hour.
