WHY I BUILT THIS

Most early buyers had
already been diagnosed.

Their kid was already five points over the action level. The test arrived after the damage was done. The point of FluoroSpec is to come before the blood draw.

01

The early customers told me the same thing.

Most of the people buying my lead tests already had a lead-poisoning diagnosis. The point is to test before, not after.

— Eric Ritter, DetectLead

A lead-poisoning diagnosis is a slow-rolling alarm. By the time the pediatrician orders the blood test, the child has been ingesting lead for months. The home test is the only intervention that comes before all of that.

02

Three entities, one mission.

D

DetectLead.com

The retail and education site. The kit ships from here. So does the dataset.

F

Fluoro-Spec Inc.

The manufacturer. Makes the FS1D and stands behind it.

E

Everything Lead

The persona and the writing voice. Field notes, cases, the story side.

03

Why the data is public.

Every scan that comes in becomes part of the public database. The next parent does not have to guess. The data costs nothing to give away. It costs everyone else a kid's lifetime if I do not.
