DetectLead.com
A short summary of what this site is and why it exists.
DetectLead.com is a lead-testing resource built for parents, caregivers, and anyone who wants to know what is actually in the dishes, baby bottles, cookware, and food they use every day. The site is run by Fluoro-Spec Inc., which makes the Fluoro-Spec reagent, a small-bottle test that turns bright green on contact with lead pigment in ceramic decorations.
The site has two main jobs. First, it shares the data: thousands of XRF scan results on common kitchen items, organized so you can look up a specific dish, brand, or food product and see real numbers. Second, it sells the Fluoro-Spec test kit so people can check items at home, at a thrift store, or anywhere else a piece of decorated china shows up.
The reason the site exists at all is that lead in dishes and tableware is a solved problem that nobody solved. Regulations cover paint on walls and pipes in plumbing, but decorated ceramics sit in a gap. A plate handed down from a grandparent, a set bought at a garage sale, a mug that came with a gift basket: none of those get tested before they reach a kitchen. DetectLead is the answer to that gap.
