PICK A SURFACE TO TEST
• PAINT
If your home was built before 1978, it may contain lead-based paint, both inside and outside. Friction/Impact Surfaces such as windows, railings, doorways, doors, and floors are the primary areas to test, as they generate dust.
• DUST
Lead dust is the most common way children get lead poisoning. Lead Dust is normally INVISIBLE, but with FS you have the ability to see the lead. Start with areas near friction surfaces, such as window sills, near doorways, and on your deck. Your vacuum cleaner or dust pan/broom are great places to look next.
• WATER PIPES
Lead in your water comes from the pipes, if you have no lead in your plumbing you don't need to worry. Test your Water Service Line if your home was built before 1988 and your plumbing fittings, if your home was built before 2014.
• CERAMICS
If you have any dishes that you eat off of and have designs or markings on them, you may be eating more lead than necessary. Lead that is in your dishes can get into your food or drinks that come into contact with the surface. Fluoro-Spec will screen for big sources of lead exposure.
SHINE THE LIGHT ON THE AREA
Shine the included light on an area/object you want to test for Lead.
When UV Light shine on certain objects/surfaces, they may glow, known as Fluorescence. Always shine light on the area before testing to check if there is any glowing.
Lead will NEVER glow green until Fluoro-Spec is used either with the Spray Tip Bottle or Drip Tip Bottle.
All you have to do to use this test correctly is shine the UV flashlight (included in our Full Set Kits) on the surface or object and look for anything reflecting the invisible UV light as colored. Normally blue but sometimes can appear green. Remember this isn't Lead because you haven't used Fluoro-Spec on the testing area yet.
Now let's get to the FUN PART - Using FS test kit
KNOW THE GLOW! - LEAD VISION
Seeing is safe, Spray or Drip your Fluoro-Spec Liquid onto the testing area to visualize where the Lead is so you can eliminate the issue and take more informed decisions.
IT'S LEAD VISION IN A BOTTLE
Once the liquid contacts the surface/object it (typically) flashes the lead to a fluorescent compound which is noticable and obvious to the eye.
This is why Fluoro-Spec is so good at protecting everyone from lead exposure. It makes invisible levels of contamination obvious and viewable to the eye without expensive third parties doing traditional dust wipes or the use of expensive equipment like an XRF gun.
FS goes beyond what an average concentration of dust across 1 square foot can tell us about our safety. It allows anyone to determine not just the presence or absence of lead, but for us to determine our risk of exposure. Without needing to spend 500+ dollars on multiple inspections.

The worst scenarios are typically this- a homeowner starts a renovation project and is unaware of lead. Their budget let's say is 11 thousand, the contractor makes a mess with lead paint and then their kids get poisoned. They find out either through the doctor or the parent orders a test. The work has to be stopped and now the price has gone up by 100%-200%. The family is left with an unfinished renovation that is going to cost them way more than they thought & their kids have lead poisoning.
